Washington Post launches Fatal Flights series

I came across the recent Washington Post series “Fatal Flights: A Perilous Rush to Profit” over the weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed going through the stories, graphics and multimedia elements. If you haven’t checked out this package yet, make sure to put it on your “To Do” list.

In the article “Breathing Life Into the Numbers Behind the Crashes”, staff writers noted that in an effort to “put a human face on the crash statistics, Post reporters reviewed thousands of pages of accident reports and lawsuits, crisscrossed the country and conducted scores of interviews with families of victims.”

After watching the videos, exploring the timeline and map graphics, and reading the informative articles, I would agree that they successfully humanized the stories.

I also appreciate the wealth of information that is presented across a variety of media. They carefully chose each medium depending on the story, and while each could stand alone, they also tastefully complement one another. Kudos to the many reporters and producers for presenting this insightful and inspiring series.
