Introducing new series, “Innovative Individuals”

This post is also available in Spanish

Innovative Individuals

I am happy to announce a new weekly series at II, titled “Innovative Individuals.” This series is a direct result from user feedback about last week’s “100 notable multimedia professionals.”

While I strongly believe that the list is a valuable resource for others curious about who else is out there, the major limitation is that it is by no means comprehensive. First, the list was based strongly upon my knowledge of others in the field, and I am the first to admit that I do not know everyone passionate about multimedia. Second, by creating the 100 cap, I left off countless deserving individuals.

Therefore, “Innovative Individuals” is a user-nominated weekly series where readers pick who should be highlighted. At the end of the year, these individuals will be aggregated into the annual list.

My goal is that by asking you to nominate talented professionals that I will eliminate the bias of self-selecting individuals based on my limited knowledge. Furthermore, it will help me keep tabs on more people producing multimedia from around the world so I can highlight a more comprehensive selection of work in my other posts.

I welcome self nominations, as well as suggestions of others. You can include one name, or a list of individuals. Please note that all nominations will remain confidential. I will then keep a running list of nominees, and make the final decision as to who is selected each week. Each post will provide information about the person, their educational and professional history, highlights of their work, and possibly Q&A interviews.

I hope this series will enable us to learn more about a wide variety of people, from promising students to professional gurus. I am open to all ideas as to how this series can best help you.

Please submit your confidential nominations to tracynboyer@gmail.com. I will go ahead and include all names that were submitted to me in response to the list last week. There is no deadline as decisions will be selected from a running list. The series will run every Friday, with our initial post coming Friday, November 6th.
