Multiple competition deadlines looming … enter now!

I hope everyone is aware of several competition deadlines that are fast approaching. I have listed five January deadlines here for your convenience (listed chronologically by deadline). Some are free, while others are cheap and there are competitions for both students and professionals. Please remember to submit your work – the results are only valid if the winners are chosen amongst a rich sampling of other work in our field! Best of luck to everyone and please let me know if there are any other upcoming deadlines we should be know about.

SND Competitions:

“Two big deadlines are fast approaching:

• The Best of Multimedia Design™ deadline for entries is Thursday, Jan. 7. This is for work created between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2009.
• The deadline for the 31st annual Best of News Design™ Creative Competition is Wednesday, Jan. 13, for entries from within the U.S. The international deadline is the following Wednesday, Jan. 20. This is the deadline for entries to be received in Syracuse, N.Y.

College TV Competition:

“The 31st College Television competition is underway. Information can be found at emmysfoundation.org in the College TV Awards tab. In addition to their trophy and cash awards, we’re pleased to be able to offer selected winners the opportunity to pitch their winning piece to industry development professionals. Entries will be accepted until 6:00 PM PST on January 13, 2010.”

POYi Competition:

“Pictures of the Year International is privileged to launch its 67th annual competition, setting the gold-standard for documentary photography, multimedia, and visual editing. Online registration and the entry uploading platform is now open and will continue through Friday, January 15, 2010.”

Society of Professional Journalists Competition:

“Annually, the Society of Professional Journalists presents the Mark of Excellence Awards honoring the best in student journalism. The awards offer categories for print, radio, television and online collegiate journalism. The contest is open to anyone enrolled in a college or university in the U.S. studying for an academic degree in 2009. Students who have had full-time, professional journalism experience, outside of internships, are not eligible. Entries must have been published or broadcast during the 2009 calendar year. Entry deadline: January 27, 2010.”

The Best of Photojournalism Competition:

“BOP 2010 is open for entries! Check out the new rules and categories for the Still Photo, Photo Editing, News Video Photography and Editing, and Web Site divisions. Register for your Contest ID, check out the categories for your division, and enter the contest. The deadline for all divisions is Friday, January 29th.”
