Whew! We made it to September. August was quite busy for us as we moved servers and upgraded our bilingual capabilities. The good news is that we now have a dedicated server to speed up page load times for you. Our bilingual capabilities have also improved so that all of the comments and sharing tools are specific for the language selected. Furthermore, we are able to translate more portions of the site so that almost the entire site can now be viewed in Spanish rather than just the posts.
In June we happily welcomed Tim McLaughlin who will be blogging semi-monthly on topics related to multimedia journalism. I finished up my thesis for my MSIS degree and have already begun my MBA curriculum at Kenan-Flagler Business School. As I delve into Finance and Accounting during the day, I will continue to peruse the best of multimedia at night. And, now that I have a solid team of writers and editors, I am extremely excited for what lies ahead. I hope you are as well!
Happy last day of March everyone! This past month we happily welcomed II non-profit contributor Ellen Peck, and we are eager to publicly announce our second contributor soon, who will focus on the presence of interactivity and multimedia within the educational sector. It is evident from the “Top Five” this month that II readers are most interested in internship and job opportunities. Look for our April installment featuring latest jobs tomorrow! As always, please let us know if there is ever anything you want us to cover. We are actively accepting guest bloggers as well as one other contributor in the advertising/marketing field.
II had an exceptional year thanks to all of its loyal followers. Every time you comment, bookmark, retweet, or otherwise promote a post, it makes my heart a little happier. So thanks for making me a happy girl! The major highlight from 2009 was welcoming Andrea Ballocchi as Spanish Editor, who works hard behind the scenes translating each and every post and comment by hand so our Hispanic audience can feel more welcome. The major downside from 2009 was accidentally overwriting my database and frantically reaching out to my tech gurus to revive II. Alas, we are steadily growing and covering a wider variety of multimedia and for that I am thankful.
I am thrilled to announce that October was the best month yet for II. Two years after this blog launched, we are now delivering bilingual content to more than 1,000 people each and every day (via site visits, RSS readers, and email subscriptions). Thanks to everyone who spends a little of your day with us, and please continue to spread the word about II!
