If you are wondering why II has been a little quiet lately, it is because I have been spending all of my free time completing my 2010 application for the “Win a Trip” contest with New York Times’ reporter Nicholas Kristof. I was a top-10 finalist last year, so I felt that I had to give it a second try. My first video was full of music, panning images, and content showing my humanitarian background. Thus, this year I decided to try something different and for my second video I took viewers on a mini tour of UNC to show my academic background.
You may have already seen my ecstatic tweets and Facebook updates, but I wanted to officially let everyone know that I was accepted into UNC’s prestigious MBA program. Continually ranked as one of the top 20 business schools in the nation, I will have the opportunity to craft a future business strategy for multimedia from top leaders in the field. I will finish my current master’s program a semester early, and join the 2010 entering class of business students next fall at Kenan-Flagler. In three years, and if all goes as planned, I will receive the first MSIS/MBA dual master’s degree given from Carolina.
I am extremely happy to announce that my Pulitzer project on malnutrition has officially launched. The print version will run in The Daily Tar Heel on Thursday, and all online components can be found at www.internationalhunger.com. Please check out my project and let me know what you think!
I have hit a wall and I don’t know how to overcome it. This is the first time that I have struggled with field production, so I am hoping others have previously gone through something similar and can offer some advice.
Hello from Honduras! I wanted to update everyone on my work here in southwestern Honduras and point you to my project page and blog on The Pulitzer Center’s Website. They just finished building it late last week, so now I can continually post my updates on there …
I will be traveling to Montgomery, Alabama, today to give a talk on multimedia innovation to professionals, professors and students in the area. I’m extremely excited to share my passion with others, and look forward to their questions and feedback. I posted my presentation on SlideShare, and included it here for your viewing pleasure.
I am excited to announce that a project I worked on at The Roanoke Times was named “Documentary Project of the Year” by POYi. “Age of Uncertainty” was a passionate project by journalist Beth Macy, photographer Josh Meltzer, multimedia editor Seth Gitner, myself and a few others. The series documented the challenges facing the region’s rapidly growing elderly population. Congratulations to the entire team for receiving this honorable award!
If you don’t follow me on twitter and/or del.icio.us (which you should, by the way!) you probably haven’t heard that yours truly will be speaking about multimedia innovation at API’s one day workshop in Montgomery, Alabama on April 3rd. I will be covering strategies for multimedia storytelling for news organizations and how to best prepare and equip your team for large-scale packages. My talk will be followed by two other professionals, and then end with a Q&A panel. If you are in the area, make sure to attend!
Innovative Interactivity has seen exponential growth in the past three months, thanks to all of you. What started as a trial experience a year ago on Blogger recently took off as I transitioned to WordPress with a new name and domain.
Although I am a bit behind to announce the launch of this project, I am excited to detail our latest multimedia project, Age of Uncertainty. We had our goals set high as we conquered this website in knowing we would have to produce a lot of updates with our frequent additions to the story. Seth [...]
