NewsU seminar on Wednesday to cover interactive data visualization
I just received an email for an upcoming News University seminar which caught my attention: “Picture This: Interactive Data Visualization: An ONAvation Webinar with Poynter/NewsU.” I have been a Poynter fellow, have friends who work at News University, and have taken previous seminars and online courses from them. Therefore, I highly recommend this upcoming seminar for journalists hoping to add interactivity and data visualization into otherwise mundane multimedia packages. It’s free for ONA members and $29.95 for everyone else, so why not take advantage of such a great training experience?
Data guru Edward Tufte coming to a city near you
I just found out that Edward Tufte is coming to Durham, NC, next month and I am already looking for a way to make it to his one-day course. According to his Website, Tufte will be hosting these mini conferences throughout the next three months in North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Washington and Oregon. If you don’t think being taught by Tufte himself is enough to make you pay the $380 registration fee, his four books (valued at over $200) are also included! Now that’s a deal.
Great multimedia training opportunities coming to UNC
Interested in becoming a Flash guru, or getting a comprehensive understanding of multimedia storytelling? SND’s multimedia workshop and UNC’s multimedia bootcamp are two great opportunities for you to fine-tune skills, or to get your feet wet if you are a newbie. The best part is that these awesome workshops are held in Chapel Hill, NC, so you can take me out for coffee while you’re here!
